"on the street where you
live" is the eagerly
anticipated second CD
release by pianist/vocalist
DIANE MARINO.
Following her nationally acclaimed debut release "A Sleepin’ Bee",
this CD proves once again
that DIANE is a natural
whether playing, singing, or
both.
"on the street where you live" will take the listener on a journey
to the very depths of
emotions. There is a
re-current theme throughout
this CD that tells stories
of love, love lost, and a
deep longing for the
unreachable. Once I loved (O
Amor Em Paz), Moanin’, and
What Now My Love (played in
a fresh, ‘funky’ style) are
examples of this theme. The
title cut, On The Street
Where You Live, has been
heard many times, to be
sure, but never will a
version so deeply affect the
listener as this arrangement
by DIANE. Dark, haunting and
melancholy, DIANE has
transformed this familiar
tune to one of deep,
unreachable love. A
beautiful soaring soprano
sax solo by MITCH REILLY
adds to the hypnotic mood of
this piece.
The Brazilian masterpiece, Retrato Em Branco E Preto (Picture in
Black and White) also
compliments this mood in an
almost semi-classical
treatment of Portuguese
vocal, piano and arco bass
by FRANK MARINO.
Never one to dwell in one mood, DIANE ‘S new release once again
offers a variety of playful
gems such as the Latin flare
of Bernie’s Tune, a burning
version of I Concentrate On
You, and the Brazilian
classic, Só Danço Samba.
Joining DIANE on this CD are bandmates FRANK MARINO (Bass), MITCH
REILLY (Saxes and Flute),
and CHRIS BROWN (drums).
"on the street where you
live" … another gift to the
ears to treasure from DIANE
MARINO and her quartet. … |
